When to Go

Best visit time -- Summer: Mid-June to late September. Both Going-to-the-Sun Road and Chief Mountain International Highway are open

Glacier four season weather statistics.
Ten day forecast and sunset/sunrise time.
Five days weather forest with local radar.


At least three days.
Going-to-the-Sun Road: from Apgar to St. Mary -- one day,
Chief Mountain International Highway: from Babb to Waterton Lakes -- one day,
Many Glacier & Swiftcurrent Valley -- at least half day.



There are 13 campgrounds inside park.
Fish Creek and St. Mary Campgrounds can be reserved at the on-line National Park Reservation Service .

Most campgrounds open from mid May to mid September. Primitive camping available after the listed dates. Here is the detail campground information table.

Lodges and Hotels:

Inside the Park:

Glacier Park Inc. manage seven lodges and hotels, including Glacier Park Lodge, Prince of Wales, Village Inn Motel, Lake McDonald Lodge, Rising Sun Motor Inn, Swiftcurrent Motor Inn, and the Many Glacier Hotel. You can reserve these hotels through official on-line reservation request form.

Apgar Village Lodge is located at the foot of Lake McDonald, AAA approved.

Hike-in Lodges:

there are two backcountry chalets that visitors can hike to for overnight accommodations: Granite Park Chalet, and Sperry Chalet.
