Scenic Drive:

Newfound Gap Road Scenic Drive: 40 Miles, 2 hours.
Bloom for dogwood and wildflowers best mid-March into July. Fall foliage peaks mid-October. Traffic heaviest in summer and fall.

Blue Ridge Parkway Scenic Drive: 469 Miles, 2 days.

The Smokies: 343 Miles, 3 to 4 days.

Hiking:

The Great Smoky Mountains National Park has more than 800 miles of hiking trails. You can get a trail map for $1 at the visitor centers, or download on-line.

The Appalachian Trail
The Appalachian Trail, known simply as the "A.T." among those who hike on it, is a 2174.1-mile-long scenic mountaintop footpath used each year by thousands of backpackers from around the world to fellowship with wilderness and commune with nature.

Fishing:

The park offers a wide variety of angling experiences from remote, headwater trout streams to large, coolwater smallmouth bass streams. You must possess a valid fishing license or permit from either Tennessee or North Carolina. Detailed information, including a complete list of regulations and a map of fishable park waters, is available at any visitor center.

Biking:

Cades Cove Loop Road is a popular bicycling area. During summer and fall, bicycles may be rented at the Cades Cove store (located near Cades Cove Campground).

Rafting:

Rafting is a very popular activity around Smoky Mountain Area, not just inside national park. Too many commercial rafting, tubing companies at Tennessee and North Carolina. The following just list some companies. Shop around and judge by yourself.

Rafting and Tubing down the Big Pigeon, Nantahala, or Ocoee Rivers .
Raft trip on one of six rivers - the Nantahala, French Broad, Chattooga, Pigeon, Nolichucky or Ocoee Rivers .
