When to Go

Best visit time -- September and early October: pleasant weather and less crowded.

There are 5 campgrounds in Grand Teton National Park operated by National Park Service. All first come first serve.

Colter Bay, Gros Ventre, Jenny Lake, Signal Mountain Campground are open from later May to October, Lizard Creek Campground is open from mid June to early September.

Flagg Ranch is A concession operated campground, Close and open dates are weather dependent. On-line reservation request.

All backcountry camping and mountain climbing requires a permit. Backcountry camping permits are issued free of charge to walk-ins on a first-come, first-served basis. Permits can be obtained at the Moose and Colter Bay visitor centers, and at the Jenny Lake Ranger Station.
