Vancouver and Victoria BC Canada 的功课

My plan:

Day 1: Seattle - Vancouver (Driving through the border at the Peace Arch.)
Day 2: Vancouver city
Day 3: Day trip to Whistler
Day 4: North Vancouver
Day 5: Western Vancouver - Horseshoe bay - Nanaimo - Port Alberni - Tofino
Day 6: Tofino
Day 7: Tofino - Victoria (5 hour drive)
Day 8: Victoria
Day 9: Victoria - Port Angela - Seattle
Day 10: Home

0. Victoria, Nanaimo, Tofino, Vancouver, Hope, Whistler.

1. Seattle to Victoria bc

With a car you have 3 options, all of which involve about a 2-2.5 hour drive from Seattle and at least 5-6 hours of travel time start to finish:

Port Angeles WA to Victoria (MV Coho)

cohoferry.com/main/
VICTORIA - 90 MINUTES PRIOR TO DEPARTURE
6:10 AM
10:30 AM
3:00 PM
7:30 PM
Ferry Fee 93.75
Reservation Fee 11.00
Sub-Total 104.75

Anacortes to Sidney BC north of Victoria (WA State Ferries)

Tsawwassen BC to Swartz Bay BC north of Victoria (BC Ferries)

The last option has the most frequent ferries but involves crossing the border which can take some time depending on the time of day/day of the week. So when you are traveling and where you’re going before/after Victoria can influence which one you choose.

2. Victoria
Butchart Gardens vs. Whale Watching

Disappointed by the over priced tourist trap that is Butchart Gardens. Instead, go to Vancouver Van Dusen Botanical Garden.

Fisherman’s wharf near the inner harbour has many fish and crab purchasing opportunities fresh off the boat. There is also a fish market in the same area called “The Fish Store” on 12 Erie Street (250) 383-6482‎

Tide Pools
Cattle Point is a great spot to explore, lots of tidal pools, located in Oak Bay. An added bonus is that Willows Beach is close by, a great spot to spend a day. Willows Beach Tea House is volunteer run, good snacks , reasonably priced,or wander over to Estevan Village, pick up Fish and Chips wrapped in newspaper from Willows Galley.

Gonzoles Beach is another local favorite, nice little beach, rocks to climb on, fewer tidal pools though

Botanical Beach near Port Renfrew (2 hour drive), the tidal pools at Port Renfrew are amazing but be very, very careful..

Another suggestion is to visit Sidney, 25 minutes from Victoria and go to the Shaw Ocean Discovery Centre

I would suggest you check out Witty’s Lagoon. It is only 30 minutes max time out of town.

3. Vancouver

Overview of Vancouver highlights: Stanley Park, Granville Island, Chinatown, Gastown, English Bay and the Look Out with 360 degree views of Vancouver, the Burrard Inlet and the Coast mountains from high above the city.

* Canada Place: Cruise ship terminal.
* Robson Street: The city’s finest shopping street.

* Stanley Park: Stops at the Totem Poles & Prospect Point.

* English Bay: Gorgeous views along our downtown beach.

* Granville Island: Public market, marinas, galleries & more. (stop)

* Gastown: Historic Vancouver & the world famous Steam Clock.

* Queen Elizabeth Park
Peaceful park located on a hill overlooking the city.

* Van Dusen Botanical Garden
This beautiful garden has 22 hectares of plants and trees.

* Chinatown: 2nd largest in North America.

* The Lookout: 360° panoramic viewing deck.

University of British Columbia Botanical Garden

Grouse Mountain Tour
Cleveland Dam, Capilano Fish Hatchery

Capilano Suspension Bridge and Park.
Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge

What you need to know about metered parking

Hours of operation - Meters are in effect from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily. On some steets rush hour and other regulations restrict meter availability. (Always check the meter for rush hour and other restrictions.)
Days of operation - Meters are in effect seven days a week, including statutory holidays.
Time limit - All meters in Vancouver have at least a two hour time limit, with some now allowing three hour parking.
Rate - $1.00 to $6.00 per hour depending on the area.

Free parking at Grouse on the unpaved parking lot, free 2hr parking at Granville Island and some lots of free parking at Whistler although they now apparently have pay lots too.

North Vancouver:

LYNN CANYAN PARK:
SEA BUS STATION :
GROUSE GRIND:
BLACK MOUNTAIN:
DEEP COVE:

4. Whistler
Day trip

* Sea to Sky: Winding roads with spectacular views
* Britania Beach: Authentic West Coast Beach (stop)

* Shannon Falls Park: Towering display of mother nature’s force (stop)

* Brandywine Falls: Enjoy one of Whistler’s best kept secret spots (stop)
* Whistler Village: Shops, sights and more (stop)

* lost lake

Both go to Britiania Beach, Shannon Falls, the village with free time. West Coast includes an additional stop at Brandywine Falls, where as Landsea goes to the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre. I prefer the stop at Brandywine, as you get to look down at the falls, where as at Shannon Falls you’re looking up.

5. Victoria - Tofino/Ucluelet
going through Goldsteam Park and over the Malahat,
Brentwood Bay,

Now have one recommendation to drive around the inlet and another for the ferry from Brentwood. I second the ferry. Your other question was about the route to Tofino going through Nanaimo. Yes, whether you drive around the inlet or take the Brentwood/Mill Bay ferry you end up south of Nanaimo. The Tofino highway is north of Nanaimo. There are many hotels near the Friday Harbor ferry dock so you can drop off the car early. You won’t need it in downtown Vic.

The town of Ucluelet is 10 minutes away from the Long Beach unit of the Pacific Rim National Park. Tofino is on the other end of the park with approximately the same driving distance to enter the park. Tofino definitely trumps Ucluelet for the number of gift shops, however both have great restaurants and accommodations from motels, B&B’s to big resorts. Ucluelet does have the Wild Pacific Trail

Thanks for the blog about beautiful Victoria, BC! I’d like to mention a great place to stay for anyone thinking of coming this way for a visit — Dashwood Manor Bed & Breakfast.

Dashwood Manor Bed and Breakfast looks out to Victoria’s best ocean and mountain views. This outstanding Vancouver Island heritage bed and breakfast is located along Dallas Road, Victoria’s scenic marine drive, within easy walking distance to downtown Victoria’s Inner Harbour and many major attractions. Enjoy unforgettable ocean views from your guest room in this 1912 English Tudor mansion.

The owners, Dave & Sharon Layzell, have been meticulously renovating each suite since 2004, and the end result is simply spectacular!

You can check out their B&B at www.dashwoodmanor.com

Enjoy your next visit to beautiful Victoria, BC. It is paradise!

It’s actually very difficult in this busy life to listen news on Television,
thus I just use world wide web for that reason, and take the
    most up-to-date information.
